Fintiri’s Council Approves Over N26bn for Roads, Agriculture, Health and Education Projects

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Thursday presided over the State Executive Council meeting held at the new Council Chamber, Government House, Yola, where the council approved projects valued at more than N26 billion. The bulk of the approvals focus on road construction and upgrades aimed at boosting infrastructure and stimulating economic growth across the state.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said N3.89 billion was approved for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika Local Government Area, while N6.59 billion was set aside for additional asphalt overlay on the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road, extending it to 17.5 kilometres.

He explained that the council also approved N4.43 billion for additional overlay on the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali LGA, and N3.24 billion for asphalt surfacing of the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road. These projects, he said, will enhance road connectivity and support socio-economic activities in the affected areas.

In agriculture, the council allocated N1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer to support dry season farming and N1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors with accessories to aid farmers across the state.

The education and health sectors also received approvals, including N460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye; N256 million as 20 percent counterpart funding for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision Fund; and N235.6 million as compensation for land acquired for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.

Other approvals include N481 million for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme and N328.5 million for the purchase of a modern road sweeping truck to strengthen environmental sanitation in the state.

Commissioner Iliya stressed that the approvals reflect Governor Fintiri’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving essential services for the people of Adamawa State.
